Bmnz: Mendelssohn & Hummel


Bach Musica NZwill present a unique selection of German romantic treasures for their third concert of 2019.

This concert opens with Auckland Philharmonia’s Huw Dann playing Hummel’s famous Trumpet Concerto.Its slow second movement often appears on classical highlight charts and its very fast Finale is a trumpet show-off piece!

The second half of the concert brings together three of Mendelssohn’s most-loved choral works: Psalm 42, Hear My Prayer and Verleih uns Frieden. Featuring acclaimed NZ soprano Stephanie Acraman, these moving and lyrical works represent some of Mendelssohn’s most inspired compositions. Performed in the original German language by the Bach Musica NZ Chorus & Orchestra, these three masterpieces will delight with their intricate harmonies and poignant melodies.

Conducted by the internationally acclaimed Rita Paczian, this concert is guaranteed to delight music lovers from around the city.
