New Zealand Ocean Swim Series - Bay Of Islands Classic

Nestled in the stunning Bay of Islands, New Zealand’s first capital Russell will play host to this summer’s Bay of Islands Classic – the second of seven events in the New Zealand Ocean Swim Series.

For the first time in this event’s 9 year history, the 3.3km ‘I’m Going Long’ course will be in reverse, starting over at Paihia Beach and finishing over at the main event site in Russell. As a Series first, this distance will also be a twilight swim!

Consisting of four different swim events, the Bay of Islands Classic provides an ocean swim event for all ages and abilities:
• ‘I’m Going Long’ 3.3km - a swim across the harbour from Paihia Beach to Russell
• ‘Step it Up’ 1km - taking place off Russell, an achievable distance for individuals with swimming experience
• ‘Give it a Go’ 500m - taking place off Russell , a great introduction to open water swimming
• 'Banana Boat OceanKids' 200m - a swim for children aged between 7-12 years old, consisting of a 200m shallow water swim along the Russell shore line, lined with Surf Life Saving NZ guards
